There are many reasons to choose Gran Canaria as your next destination. You don't need to think about when to travel because the island has an average temperature of 24 Celsius degree, but this is only one of the reasons. Let me begin by telling you the story from the beginning.

We started to plan our trip back in May 2016. Therefore we couldn't be more excited when the day arrived in December. We flown from Copenhagen, and it took us five and a half hours to arrive and as excepted it was real summer in the middle of the winter.

We started with a small bus trip to our hotel as it was located in Puerto Rico, one hour from the Airport. Puerto Rico is situated at the mouth of a valley on the south coast of the island and is a very populated tourist destination (If you want to stay at a more authentic district, then you should choose the other side of the island). The locals pay attention that the streets and beaches are spotless, there are bins and ashtrays on every corner. Our room was fine, and the view was extraordinary.

The first day went quickly with the flight and finding our hotel, but at night we took a taxi to Maspalomas and tried the greatest Cocktail bar we ever tried at the rooftop of Bohemia Suites and Spa. We have tried to find a place like this a long time ago. Atelier Lounge & Cocktails is a top notch bar with nice staff and a gorgeous view (as we were there it was totally dark, but we have seen photos, and it's pretty impressive). The cocktails are served a way I have never seen before, and every of them comes with a small story.

The day after we took a small ferry trip to Puerto de Mogán, a traffic-free village with colorful houses designed in the Mediterranean style with some great fish and tapas restaurants. You can take some very nice walks here, especially on a Friday morning when a huge and attractive market occupies the fishermen’s quay.

Next day we took a rest day at Playa de Amadores. It's a good spot to everybody as want to read a book with a healthy smoothie or just relax and enjoy the sun with some cocktails or beers. At night we took a walk from our hotel to the inner city of Puerto de Rico and we took some breathtaking images of the city.

The following day we rented a car and the real trip begun. Palmitos Park was our first stop, It is not the cheapest program you can choose, but worth every cent. The Park is a 20-hectare botanical garden, aviary, and zoo. The selections of the park are big with butterfly and orchid houses, aquaria and dolphinarium with live dolphin shows.

Then we took a short trip again to Maspalomas in daytime. Dunes of Maspalomas is an excellent location for everyone who wants to take good Instagram images or just enjoy the gorgeous view. It remains the largest tourist destination in the Canary Islands and a worldwide-known destination.

On the next day, we woke up at 5 am and took a 2 hours trip to Roque Nublo. The Rock in the Clouds is a 67 m tall volcanic rock 1,813 m above the sea level.

Soon after Roque Nublo, our trip continues to the city of Las Palmas. This is the capital of the island with a population of almost 400000. The city features many tourist and culture attractions, shops and restaurants.

Gran Canaria is one of the places, that I want to revisit because of nature, the friendly atmosphere, and the weather conditions. As I said you can't go wrong with this destination.
